About Video Trimmer

Trimming is the most common video edit there is: cut the shaky start, drop the rambling ending, keep the thirty seconds worth sending. Desktop editors make it feel heavier than it is, and phone editors usually re-share the clip at whatever resolution the app prefers, which is why a browser tool that only removes time is genuinely useful.

This trimmer shows the clip in your browser, lets you pick the start and end with two handles, then sends the chosen range to FFmpeg on our server. The cut is accurate because the selected section is decoded and re-encoded rather than copied blindly, and the output keeps the original frame size in a standard MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use Video Trimmer for real work.
  • See the clip before cutting

A browser video preview plays the file you selected, so you can find the moment you want without guessing timestamps.

  • Two time handles

Drag the start and end sliders (or type exact seconds) and the selected length updates as you go, with validation before the job starts.

  • Manual times for odd containers

Some containers, such as MKV in many browsers, cannot be previewed; the tool then asks for start and end seconds and still cuts the file on the server.

  • Accurate server-side cutting

FFmpeg seeks to the selected point and re-encodes the range, so the cut lands where you asked instead of at an arbitrary keyframe.

  • Resolution and audio kept

The output keeps the source frame size and includes the first audio track re-encoded to AAC, ready for phones, browsers and messaging apps.

  • Temporary files only

The uploaded video and the trimmed clip are held in a temporary folder and deleted automatically after the download.

How to use Video Trimmer

No account, no installation — one upload, one conversion, and the temporary copy is deleted.
  1. 01

    Upload the video to trim

Drop an MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI or another supported video into the workspace. The limit is 100 MB.

  2. 02

    Set the start time

Play the preview, then drag the start handle to the moment where the clip should begin. Exact seconds can be typed if you know them.

  3. 03

    Set the end time

Drag the end handle to where the clip should stop. The readout shows the selected length before you commit.

  4. 04

    Trim and download

Click Trim video, wait for the server cut to finish, preview the result and download the MP4.

Limitations worth knowing

  • Trimming always re-encodes, so there is one small generation loss and no lossless stream-copy mode.
  • The selected clip can be at most 15 minutes long and the upload at most 100 MB.
  • Subtitles and extra audio tracks are dropped; only the first video and first audio streams are kept.
  • HDR and Dolby Vision sources are converted to standard SDR color, and browser preview is not available for every container.

Privacy and file handling

The video is uploaded to a temporary directory on our server, trimmed with FFmpeg, and streamed back as a download. The upload and the finished clip are deleted automatically when the download completes; no copy is stored permanently or shared with third parties.

Video Trimmer FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
How do I choose which part of the video to keep?
Play the preview and drag the start and end handles. The tool shows the selected length, and you can also type exact timestamps when you already know them.
Does trimming a video without re-encoding keep the quality?
This tool always re-encodes the selected range. That is what makes the cut accurate and keeps the output broadly compatible, but it also means one lossy generation is added.
What happens if I choose a start time after the end time?
The tool stops you before uploading: the end must be later than the start, and the selected length must be at least half a second and at most fifteen minutes.
Will the trimmed video keep its original resolution?
Yes. The frame size is preserved, with odd dimensions rounded down to even numbers so H.264 can encode them. Use the video resizer first if you also want a smaller frame.
Is the audio cut at the same point as the video?
Yes. Video and audio are cut from the same start point for the same length, and the first audio track is re-encoded to AAC inside the MP4.
Can I trim a video my browser cannot preview?
Yes. Containers such as MKV or AVI may not play in the preview, so the tool falls back to start and end number fields and the server still trims the file with FFmpeg.
What limits apply to video trimming?
The upload can be up to 100 MB, the selected clip can be up to 15 minutes, and a job is stopped after three minutes of server processing time.
Are my videos stored after trimming?
No. The upload and the trimmed clip are written to a temporary server directory and deleted automatically when the download finishes; nothing is kept or shared.
