About MP4 Converter

MP4 is the format every phone, browser, TV box and social platform accepts; everything else is a compatibility gamble. This converter takes the common containers that cameras, screen recorders and download sites produce and rebuilds them as a standard MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio, the combination with the widest playback support available today.

The file is processed by FFmpeg on our server, not in your browser tab. That keeps the job fast and consistent even on an older laptop, and it means large files do not exhaust your device's memory. Upload the video, choose how much quality you want to keep, and download the result; the upload and output are removed from the server as soon as the download finishes.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use MP4 Converter for real work.
  • One output that plays everywhere

Every result is H.264 video plus AAC audio inside an MP4 container, the standard combination for iPhones, Android phones, Windows, macOS, smart TVs and the major social platforms.

  • Three quality presets

Choose high, balanced or small before converting. Balanced is the right default for most clips; high keeps more fine detail in footage with grain or fast motion.

  • Faststart for instant playback

The MP4 index is moved to the front of the file, so video players and messaging apps can begin playing before the whole download has finished.

  • Handles the common containers

Upload MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, 3GP, M4V, OGV or TS; the converter decodes the video and audio streams and writes a fresh MP4.

  • Clean 8-bit output

The result is standard 8-bit 4:2:0 video, which avoids the grey bars, green frames and audio drift that come from mismatched or unsupported codecs.

  • Automatic deletion

The uploaded video and the converted MP4 live in a temporary folder only and are deleted automatically after the download; nothing is kept for later.

How to use MP4 Converter

No account, no installation — one upload, one conversion, and the temporary copy is deleted.
  1. 01

    Select your video

Drop a file onto the workspace or click to browse. The picker accepts MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI and the other containers listed on this page, up to 100 MB.

  2. 02

    Choose a quality preset

Pick high when detail matters, balanced for everyday sharing, or small when the clip needs to slip into an email or chat limit.

  3. 03

    Start the conversion

Click Convert to MP4. The upload progress bar tracks the transfer, then the server re-encodes the video and audio into the MP4 format.

  4. 04

    Download and check the result

The MP4 appears with a player preview so you can confirm it looks right before saving it to your device.

  5. 05

Start over when you need another file

Use Start over to clear the result and upload a different clip. Only one video is processed at a time.

Limitations worth knowing

  • One file per job and a 100 MB upload limit; there is no batch conversion.
  • Conversion always re-encodes the video, so the result is not a bit-for-bit copy of the original streams.
  • Subtitles and extra audio tracks are not carried over; only the first video and first audio streams are kept.
  • Jobs stop after three minutes, so long or very high-resolution clips may not finish.

Privacy and file handling

Your video is uploaded to a temporary working directory on our server, converted with FFmpeg, and streamed back to your browser. The upload and the converted MP4 are deleted automatically when the download completes, and nothing is written to permanent storage, logged as content or shared. Accounts are not required.

MP4 Converter FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
Which video formats can this MP4 converter upload?
It accepts MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, MPG, M4V, 3GP, OGV and TS files. The output is always MP4, so the tool is genuinely a one-way converter.
What codec is used inside the converted MP4?
The video is encoded with H.264 and the audio with AAC at 128 kbps. That combination is required by many TVs and older phones, and it plays in every current browser.
Will converting to MP4 reduce the video quality?
Yes, unless the source is already small and simple. Conversion decodes and re-encodes the picture, so some detail is lost; the high preset keeps the most, while the small preset trades detail for size.
What happens to extra audio tracks and subtitles in the source file?
The first video stream and the first audio stream are kept. Additional audio tracks, subtitle tracks and data streams are not carried into the MP4, because common players would ignore them or fail to play the file.
How long does an MP4 conversion take?
A short clip usually finishes in seconds. Processing time grows with resolution and duration, and a job is stopped automatically after three minutes, which is the practical ceiling for this server.
Is there an upload limit?
Yes. Each file can be up to 100 MB, and one file is converted per job. Larger videos need a desktop encoder such as HandBrake or Shutter Encoder.
Are my videos uploaded to your server?
Yes, video conversion cannot run reliably in a browser, so the file is uploaded to a temporary directory on our server, converted, and deleted automatically when the download finishes. No copy is stored afterwards.
Why is my converted MP4 larger than the original?
Re-encoding targets a consistent visual quality, so a heavily compressed source can grow when converted at a higher quality preset. Choose the small preset if the goal is a smaller file rather than a compatible one.
