About M4A to MP3
M4A is the file Apple uses for voice memos, podcast downloads and iTunes purchases: AAC audio inside an MP4 container. It sounds good at moderate bitrates and is standard on Apple devices, but plenty of older hardware, car stereos and basic MP3 players will not touch it. Converting to MP3 solves that compatibility problem without changing the recording itself.
This tool accepts .m4a and raw .aac files, decodes the first audio track on the server and re-encodes it with the LAME MP3 encoder. You choose the bitrate, and the result plays wherever MP3 is supported. Because both AAC and MP3 are lossy formats, the conversion is a transcode, so we recommend 192 kbps or higher to keep it close to the original.
What this tool does
Accepts M4A and AAC
Both the .m4a container and raw .aac files exported by recording apps and encoders are accepted.
Three bitrate choices
Pick 128 kbps for voice, 192 kbps for general listening or 320 kbps when the MP3 will be edited or converted again.
Duration preserved
The MP3 matches the length of the source recording; nothing is trimmed and no silence is added.
Built for compatibility
The output is a plain MP3, the format most likely to work in a car stereo, older media player, MP3 watch or basic phone.
No sign-up, no watermark
The download is a clean audio file. There is no account requirement and no branding inserted into the MP3.
Temporary storage only
The uploaded M4A and the converted MP3 are deleted automatically after the download finishes.

Privacy and file handling
The M4A or AAC file is uploaded to a temporary working directory on our server, converted to MP3, and streamed back to your browser. Both the upload and the result are deleted automatically when the download completes; nothing is stored permanently or shared, and no sign-up is involved.
