About Audio Converter

Audio arrives in too many formats: a voice memo in M4A, a sample pack in WAV, a download in FLAC, a streaming rip in OGG, a podcast in MP3. Most players handle a few of these and stumble on the rest, and editing software is often stricter still. An audio converter turns one into another without needing a desktop suite.

This tool accepts eight common input formats and writes MP3, WAV or M4A. MP3 and M4A outputs are lossy and take a bitrate setting; WAV output is uncompressed PCM and is the right choice when the next step is editing or archiving. The server does the decoding and encoding with FFmpeg, then deletes both the upload and the result automatically after your download.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use Audio Converter for real work.
  • Three output formats

Produce MP3 for universal playback, WAV for editing and lossless storage, or M4A for efficient AAC audio that Apple devices play natively.

  • Eight input formats

Upload MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS or WMA files, and the server decodes whichever codec is inside them.

  • Bitrate control for lossy output

MP3 and M4A outputs let you choose 128, 192 or 320 kbps; WAV output ignores bitrate because it is uncompressed.

  • Convert in either direction

Move from lossless FLAC or WAV to portable MP3 or M4A, or go the other way to an editable WAV, in one step.

  • No software to install

FFmpeg runs on the server, so the tool works from any browser, including tablets and machines where installing encoders is not possible.

  • Clean automatic cleanup

Uploads and results are written to a temporary directory and deleted automatically once the download finishes.

How to use Audio Converter

No account, no installation — one upload, one conversion, and the temporary copy is deleted.
  1. 01

    Upload your audio file

Drop a file into the workspace or browse for it. MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS and WMA are supported up to 100 MB.

  2. 02

    Choose the output format

Pick MP3 for compatibility, WAV for uncompressed editing or M4A for a smaller file that Apple devices handle well.

  3. 03

    Pick a bitrate if needed

For MP3 or M4A, choose a bitrate; 192 kbps is a sensible default. WAV does not use a bitrate.

  4. 04

    Convert and download

Click Convert audio, preview the result in the audio player, then download it with its new extension.

Limitations worth knowing

  • One file per job, 100 MB maximum, three-minute processing cap.
  • DRM-protected audio cannot be converted.
  • Converting between lossy formats always loses some quality; WAV output cannot restore it.
  • Extra streams such as artwork, chapters and metadata tags are not carried into the output.

Privacy and file handling

The audio file is uploaded to a temporary working directory on our server, converted with FFmpeg, and streamed back as a download. The upload and the converted file are deleted automatically when the download finishes; nothing is stored permanently, inspected or shared, and no account is required.

Audio Converter FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
Which audio formats can I upload to this converter?
It accepts MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, FLAC, OGG, OPUS and WMA files. The output can be MP3, WAV or M4A, so most everyday format conversions are covered.
Should I choose MP3, WAV or M4A?
Choose MP3 when the file must play anywhere, WAV when you plan to edit or archive it without further loss, and M4A when you want a small file that Apple devices and modern browsers play natively.
Can I convert FLAC to MP3 with this tool?
Yes. FLAC is decoded and re-encoded to MP3 at the bitrate you choose. You can also keep the audio lossless by converting FLAC to WAV, which changes the container without losing quality.
Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the sound quality?
No. WAV is uncompressed, but it can only store what the MP3 already contains; the detail discarded during MP3 encoding cannot come back. It does give you a file that editing software imports cleanly.
Can I convert video files into audio here?
No, this tool is for audio files. To pull audio out of an MP4 video, use the MP4 to MP3 tool, which is built for that job.
What bitrate should I use for MP3 or M4A output?
128 kbps is adequate for speech, 192 kbps is a good general default, and 320 kbps is the safe choice for music that will be edited or re-encoded later. Higher bitrates make larger files without adding detail the source never had.
Can the converter remove DRM or convert protected purchases?
No. Protected files cannot be decoded, so the tool will return an error instead of a result. It only works with unprotected audio you are allowed to convert.
Are uploads and converted audio files stored?
No. Both the upload and the converted file live in a temporary working directory on the server and are deleted automatically after your download. Nothing is kept long-term or shared with third parties.
