About Case Converter

Case conversion looks trivial until a style guide, a naming convention or a codebase gets involved. Headlines want title case, body copy wants sentence case, URLs and CSS classes want kebab-case, JavaScript variables want camelCase, and constants want CONSTANT_CASE. Retyping by hand invites mistakes, especially in a long list of names.

This converter keeps a live preview in all eight styles, so you can switch between them without losing your text. The four whole-line styles preserve your line breaks; the four identifier styles split words apart and join them with the right separator, handling existing camelCase, snake_case and punctuation along the way.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use Case Converter for real work.
  • Eight conversion styles

Uppercase, lowercase, title case, sentence case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE are available side by side.

  • Live preview

The converted text updates as you type, so switching styles becomes a comparison rather than a repeated copy-and-paste.

  • Line breaks preserved

Uppercase, lowercase, title case and sentence case keep your paragraphs and line breaks instead of flattening the text.

  • Identifier-aware word splitting

camelCase and snake_case styles understand existing camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case and punctuation, so words split at the right points.

  • Title case with a small-word rule

Short joining words such as and, of and the stay lowercase unless they begin or end the title, matching common editorial style.

  • Copy, sample and clear

One click copies the result, a sample loads a mixed-case sentence and Clear empties the input for the next job.

Limitations worth knowing

  • Title case rules vary by style guide; the small-word list used here is a common default rather than a universal standard.
  • Sentence case and title case lowercase acronyms and proper nouns, so check names after converting.
  • Identifier styles collapse whitespace and line breaks into a single token, which is intended for code names but unsuitable for prose.

Privacy and file handling

Everything happens in your browser. Case conversion is plain JavaScript on your device, so the text is never uploaded, stored or logged, and closing the page discards both the input and the result.

Case Converter FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
Which words stay lowercase in title case?
Short joining words such as a, an, and, as, at, but, by, for, in, of, on, or, the and to stay lowercase unless they are the first or last word of a line. This matches common editorial style, though individual style guides can differ.
Does sentence case preserve proper nouns and acronyms?
No. Sentence case lowercases everything first and then capitalises the start of each sentence, so names such as NASA become Nasa. That is standard for a mechanical converter; restore proper capitalisation by hand where it matters.
How does the converter split words for camelCase and snake_case?
It breaks on spaces and punctuation, and also at boundaries created by existing casing, so HelloWorld becomes hello world. Apostrophes are removed, and the resulting words are rejoined with the separator that the chosen style needs.
Why does camelCase remove spaces instead of keeping them?
camelCase is an identifier convention used in code, where spaces are not allowed. The style joins lowercase words and capitalises the first letter of each later word, producing a single token such as myVariableName.
What happens to languages without upper and lower case?
Scripts that have no case distinction, such as Chinese or Japanese, are left as they are in the whole-line styles. Identifier styles may join runs of those characters with the chosen separator, which is rarely what a developer wants for non-Latin text.
Is my text uploaded when I convert its case?
No. Conversion runs in this browser tab with JavaScript and the text is never sent to a server, stored or logged. That makes it safe for client names, unpublished copy and internal identifiers.
Can I convert a whole document at once?
Paste it in and the converter will process the entire text, but only the casing changes. Headings, bold, links and other formatting are lost because the tool works on plain text, so keep the original document for layout-sensitive edits.
