About QR Code Generator

QR codes are a compact way to hand a phone a small piece of text: a website, a Wi-Fi login, an email draft or a serial number. The awkward part is not generating the pattern but choosing settings that survive printing, which is where size, contrast and error correction matter.

This generator renders the code locally on a canvas using the standard QR algorithm and exposes the settings that affect scanning: pixel size, error-correction level, quiet-zone margin and foreground and background colors. You can download a crisp PNG for print or an SVG for further editing.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use QR Code Generator for real work.
  • Four content types

Encode plain text, a website URL, a Wi-Fi network login or a pre-filled email draft without assembling the payload by hand.

  • Wi-Fi escaping

Network names and passwords are escaped correctly for the WIFI: payload format, including special characters and hidden networks.

  • Scanning-focused settings

Adjust pixel size, error correction, quiet-zone margin and colors, with warnings when contrast is likely to cause scanning trouble.

  • PNG and SVG downloads

Download a ready-to-use PNG at up to 1024 pixels, or an SVG that can be resized for print without losing sharpness.

  • Capacity errors

Content that is too long for the selected error-correction level produces a clear message instead of a broken code.

  • Live canvas preview

The code redraws as you edit, so you can check the payload, colors and quiet zone before downloading.

How to use QR Code Generator

No account, no installation — the whole job happens in this browser tab.
  1. 01

    Choose the content type

Pick text, URL, Wi-Fi or email; the form shows only the fields that type needs.

  2. 02

    Enter the content

Fill in the text, link, network name and password, or email address and optional subject and message.

  3. 03

    Adjust size and error correction

Pick a pixel size for the download and an error-correction level; higher levels survive more damage but hold less data.

  4. 04

    Check colors and quiet zone

Keep the foreground darker than the background, raise the contrast if warned, and leave a margin of at least four modules.

  5. 05

    Download and test

Download PNG or SVG, then scan the code with a phone before printing or publishing it.

Limitations worth knowing

  • Codes are static: the destination cannot be changed or tracked after download, unlike a paid redirect QR service.
  • Data capacity is limited, and long text can exceed the maximum even at the lowest error-correction level.
  • Scanning reliability depends on print size, ink, surface and the scanner app, which the tool cannot control.

Privacy and file handling

QR codes are rendered locally on a canvas and downloaded by the browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored, which keeps Wi-Fi passwords and email addresses inside the page.

QR Code Generator FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
What error correction level should I choose for a QR code?
Medium is a sensible default for most printed and screen codes, while High helps when the code will be small, curved or partially covered. Higher levels repeat more data, so the code becomes denser and can hold less content.
Why will my QR code not scan after printing?
The usual causes are a code that is too small, low contrast between modules and background, a missing quiet zone, or glossy paper that reflects light. Print at a reasonable size, keep the margin at four modules or more and test with a phone before a full print run.
How much text fits in a QR code?
Capacity depends on the content and error-correction level. The largest version at the lowest error correction holds roughly 2,950 bytes of binary data, which is a long URL or a short paragraph; simpler types such as digits fit considerably more.
Can I change the colors of a QR code?
Yes, but keep the foreground darker than the background and maintain strong contrast. Many scanners assume dark modules on a light background, so inverted or low-contrast codes can fail even when they look fine on screen.
How do I create a Wi-Fi QR code?
Enter the network name and password, choose the security type and the tool builds a WIFI: payload that phones recognize. Scanning it usually offers to join the network; some older devices and apps ignore Wi-Fi codes entirely.
Are the QR codes generated on a server?
No. The pattern is rendered by JavaScript in this browser tab and never uploaded. That matters for Wi-Fi passwords especially, since the code contains the network credentials until you choose to download it.
What is the quiet zone or margin on a QR code?
The quiet zone is the empty border around the modules. The QR standard asks for at least four modules of space, because scanners use that blank area to find the code; shrinking it can make a code unreliable.
