Password Generator

You can generate a random password from 8 to 64 characters, choose which character sets to include, guarantee coverage of each set, and see an entropy estimate before copying it.

About Password Generator

A password generator is only as good as its randomness. This one draws from the browser's cryptographic random source and guarantees that each selected character set appears at least once, so enabling digits or symbols cannot silently produce a password without them.

Length and pool size are shown with an entropy estimate in bits, which is a more honest measure of strength than a color bar alone. Everything happens in page memory: there is no history, no storage and no sync, so the password exists only until you copy it into a manager and leave the page.

What this tool does

The details that matter when you use Password Generator for real work.
  • Lengths from 8 to 64

Drag the length slider from 8 to 64 characters and watch the entropy estimate change as the password grows.

  • Selectable character sets

Toggle lowercase, uppercase, digits and symbols independently to match the rules of the site you are signing up for.

  • Guaranteed set coverage

At least one character from every selected set is placed in the password before the rest is filled and shuffled.

  • Ambiguous character filter

Remove I, l, 1, O, 0 and o when a password will be read aloud or typed from a printout.

  • Entropy estimate and strength

See the estimated bits of entropy, the pool size and a plain-language strength label before copying the result.

  • Nothing persisted

Passwords live only in page memory; there is no history, local storage, cookie or server request involved.

How to use Password Generator

No account, no installation — the whole job happens in this browser tab.
  1. 01

    Set the length you need

Choose between 8 and 64 characters; longer passwords add entropy faster than switching to rarer symbol sets.

  2. 02

    Pick character sets

Enable the sets the destination accepts; every enabled set is guaranteed to appear in the generated password.

  3. 03

    Generate and review

A password is generated automatically; press Generate for another, and check the entropy line for the strength estimate.

  4. 04

    Copy it into a manager

Copy the password and store it in your password manager before leaving the page, because the tool keeps no history.

Limitations worth knowing

  • The entropy figure assumes uniform random characters; the guaranteed-coverage step removes a tiny amount of randomness, so treat the number as an estimate.
  • Passwords are limited to 8-64 characters and may not satisfy arbitrary site rules such as a maximum length or a ban on symbols.
  • There is no history or export: copy the password to a manager before closing the page, because it cannot be recovered.

Privacy and file handling

Passwords are generated and displayed only inside this browser tab. Nothing is uploaded, stored, logged or cached, and the page keeps no history of previously generated passwords.

Password Generator FAQ

Short, direct answers to the questions people ask before using this tool.
How is the password randomness generated?
The tool uses crypto.getRandomValues and a rejection-sampling helper so every character in the pool is equally likely. It does not use Math.random, and positions are shuffled with the same cryptographic source after the guaranteed characters are placed.
What does the entropy estimate in bits mean?
Entropy measures how many guesses an attacker would need in the worst case. Each bit doubles the search space, so a 20-character password from a 94-character pool has roughly 131 bits, far beyond what brute force can cover.
Why exclude ambiguous characters such as I, l and 1?
These characters look similar in many fonts, which causes mistakes when a password is read aloud, copied from a printout or typed on a phone. Excluding them trades a little entropy for fewer failed logins.
Is a longer password always stronger?
With the same character pool, yes: each extra character multiplies the number of combinations. Length also beats complexity in practice, because people and systems struggle to remember or type symbol-heavy strings, which encourages reuse.
Does the password generator store or transmit passwords?
No. Generation runs in this browser tab and the result is held only in page memory. There is no history, local storage, cookie or network request, so a copied password is gone as soon as you leave the page.
Can I generate a numeric-only PIN with this tool?
Yes. Enable only the digits set and the generator will produce a numeric password of the chosen length. Remember that a numeric-only secret has a much smaller search space, so use the longest length the destination allows.
What makes a password strong for a real account?
Length, uniqueness and randomness matter most. Use a password manager to keep a different long password per site and enable two-factor authentication, because a strong password alone does not protect against phishing or a stolen session.
